Short Term Study Abroad Opportunities

As part of Kettering's Study Abroad program, we also offer alternatives to our 3 month programs! Short term study abroad programs are a great way for students to gain international experience while earning credit and enhancing those resumes! These courses combine classroom study with real-world experiences, allowing students to gain international insight in their field of study.

For students with rigorous academic schedules and a limited budget, a short term program could be a perfect fit! Students who attend our short term programs often love the experience so much that they sign up for a longer 3 month program at one of our exchange schools. Most programs are offered during Kettering's summer/winter breaks or during Zero week, so you won't be missing any of those important classes!

Our short term programs range from 1 week to two weeks and these are a great option for those who have never traveled internationally, students who wish to visit a specific destination which includes an academic element and also for students who are unable to commit to an entire semester abroad. Cost are dependent on the type of program, and program fees are separate from a student’s standard tuition costs. Dependent on the program, some students may be eligible for a stipend or scholarship opportunities, such as the Oswald Fellowship. There is no limit to how many short term programs a student can participate in.

So far we have had a 1 week program in the Dominican Republic focusing on nursing in developing countries, a 7 night program the Republic of Ireland, and most recently a 2 week cultural and language exchange in Taipei, Taiwan.

Each program is dedicated to a specific area of study and often counts as credit in the corresponding department or as Independent Study. Students do not need to be majoring in that specific area to participate in these trips and all trips are open to all Kettering University Students. Please make sure to speak with the OIP in regards to credit, each program has its own criteria.

Specific questions regarding application, trip details, or pricing should be directed to the program’s Faculty Leader (program dependent) or the OIP.

This is a fantastic opportunity to travel and experience another culture, so please come speak with us!
