While Abroad

You've finally arrived! Now is the time to enjoy this new and exciting experience, try to challenge yourself and experience cultural opportunities that can provide value as well as be fun. Try to submerse yourself in their culture, enjoy reading newspapers in local cafes, instigate conversation with locals and practice your new language skills. It might be beneficial to find a language partner to help increase your confidence speaking in a different language, plus this is a great way to make new friends and get an insight into how the locals live.

You have support both back at Kettering and at your host institution.

International Office at your host institution

The International Office at your chosen institution will be able to provide assistance and guidance for your term abroad. If you are signed up to study abroad you should all have individual coordinator details including phone numbers and email addresses. Please contact them with any questions you have once you arrive. If you find you are not receiving the support you require, please contact the Office of International Programs at Kettering University.

Host institution orientation

All students on our study abroad programs will have mandatory orientation the week of their arrival. The university will deliver in-depth information in the following areas:
  • Campus and university life
  • Student clubs and activities
  • University procedures and general academics
  • Banking options and advice
  • Internet/phone availability and options
  • Medical facilities and services
  • Tours of town and local points of interest

Information from Kettering University while abroad

Please remember to continue checking your Kettering email accounts. You will be receiving correspondence from the Office of International Programs as well as other departments during your time abroad. Email is the only method of contact we use, so checking regularly will make sure you do not miss out on important information.
