Study Abroad Photo Competition

The Office of International Programs is hoping you will celebrate your global experience with us by submitting your best photos from studying abroad into our bi-annual photo contest.
 
The contest is open to all students who are studying abroad and to our incoming Exchange students from our partner schools. Here are the details on the contest:
 
Categories:
  1. Global classroom: Photos of students engaged in learning activities inside the classroom or on field trips.
  2. Do as the Romans Do: Submit photos that provide a sense of the local culture, people, customs, and traditions. This can be urban life, street scenes, festivals or other local customs.
  3. Nature’s Bounty: Photos that highlight and reflect your host country’s beauty and landscapes. For this category, if you are studying in Germany then please only submit photos taken in Germany.
  4. Bulldogs abroad: Capture fun photos of you and your fellow Bulldogs in local context. This is a way of showing off your Kettering spirit, have fun and don’t forget to wear your Kettering gear! 

The OIP have procured Kettering's very own General Determination in bobble head form! We encourage you to take photos with General D throughout your travels, and then enter those photos into the General D category for a raffle drawing (described below). This a great chance to showcase our programs as well as to win that raffle prize! 

       5. General D: Include the General D bobble head into any of the above categories and your photo will be entered in to a raffle prize. We encourage you to take pictures in your favorite categories (or all categories) but as a bonus you should take one that includes General D for a chance to win the raffle!

Prizes for Categories 1 - 4: 
  • First place in each category:  $150 visa gift card
  • Second place in each category: $50 Visa gift card
  • General D Raffle: prize valued at $75!
Submission Info:
  • Photo and video files must be high resolution—one megabyte or larger files.
  • Maximum 3 entries per category
  • For each photo, include a title, the location, year, and a caption no longer than one sentence. Submissions that do not include all of this information will be disqualified.
  • All photos submitted and considered for awards may be used by the OIP for website or print marketing.
  • The winning photos and video will be displayed in the Office of International Programs and used for marketing purposes across campus. 
  • Individuals can win a maximum of two categories.
Rules:
  • Every photo needs a short, descriptive caption.
  • You must tag your pictures on Facebook/Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #globalbulldogs and #ketteringbulldogsontour
  • You must also email your photo submissions to studyabroad@kettering.edu
  • All submissions must arrive by 1 December 2019.
  • Avoid inappropriate subject matter such as drinking, swearing, nudity or any unlawful behavior.
  • Photo submissions cannot be featured in other promotional campaigns or violate privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights.
  • Please remember that you are a visitor in your host country and ensure the photos you submit are respectful to the people and culture.

Tips for taking photos for the cultural category:
Locals: Photos of native people, local friends, cultural displays, etc. If you are taking photos of people, please make sure you obtain their consent before doing so.
Places: Artful and interesting shots of buildings, monuments, landscape, architecture, nature, etc., in your study abroad destination.
Food: Photos of local foods in markets, being prepared, on the table, etc. 

The bobble heads are available for collection, please come to the OIP to collect him. If you are on co-op, please arrange for someone to collect him on your behalf.
