Arrival Information

For information on how to arrive at your host institution, please search for the applicable school. You will be given detailed instructions by your student coordinator at your host institution prior to departing the U.S.
ESSLINGENStudents must make their own way to the campus from the arrival airport. Depending on point of arrival, here are instructions on how to make your journey:
- From Stuttgart: Stuttgart is the most convenient arrival airport. The average journey time between Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe and Esslingen (Neckar) is 48 minutes, on average there are 68 trains per day. Please click here for further information.
- From Frankfurt: A good alternative is to arrive into Frankfurt. There are regular high-speed trains (ICE) to Stuttgart where you can change for the S-Bahn or Local train to Esslingen. The average journey time between Frankfurt and Esslingen is 2 hours and there are over 65 trains per day running this service.
- From Munich: From Munich the journey time is approximately 2 hours. There are regular high-speed trains to Munich but more often than not, it will require a change of trains at another station.
KONSTANZ
Students must make their own way to Hochschule Konstanz from their chosen arrival airport. Here are guidelines on how to reach your destination:
- From Zurich, Switzerland: This is the closest international airport to Konstanz, located only 60KM away. The SBB train station (Swiss Train Company) is located on the bottom floor of the airport. There are hourly trains from Zurich airport to Konstanz at a cost of approximately 30 Swiss Francs. Average journey time is 1 hour. - From Stuttgart Airport: From here you must take the S-Bahn (underground subway) to the main train station in Stuttgart. Trains depart every 2 hours to Konstanz requiring a change of trains in Singen. Average train time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. Tickets cost approximately 45 €. - From Frankfurt Airport: This is the least convenient of airports due to the distance but if this is your only option then you can take trains from the bottom level of the airport to Konstanz. Trains leave every two hours and the journey time is approximately 6 hours.
ULM
- From Stuttgart Airport: Take the underground (S-Bahn) S2 or S3 to Stuttgart main train station (Hauptbahnhof – Hbf.). This is a 30 minute journey. From the main station you will change trains and board the train heading for Ulm. Trains depart every hour with journey times averaging 60 minutes.
- From Munich Airport: You will need to take the underground to Munich's main train station which is an approximate 40 minute journey. At Munich main station you will board trains heading to Ulm. Trains depart every hour and journey time is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.
- From Frankfurt Airport: There are direct trains from Frankfurt Airport direct to Ulm. Trains depart every hour and takes about 2 hours 15 minutes to arrive.
REUTLINGEN
- From Stuttgart airport - The best method is to take the Expresso Bus (X3) from the airport to Reutlingen, this runs once per hour from early morning until late at night. The bus departs from outside the main airport exit. The journey time is approximately 45 minutes and costs around 6 Euro. Please note all passengers must pay when they board the front of the bus and pay the driver directly. Disembark the bus in the city center or "Stadtmitte". From there you will need to change bus for Reutlingen Campus, full details and maps will be provided before departure.
- From Frankfurt - You will need to take the train to Stuttgart, trains are approximately every 30 minutes and journey time takes around 1 hour. From Stuttgart change trains to Reutlingen, average journey time is 40 minutes. Check here for full schedules and costs.
- From Munich - All trains to Reutlingen require several changes enroute, journey time is approximately 3 hours, please check here for current times and schedules.
- Bus from Stuttgart - The eXpresso (X3) bus from Stuttgart Airport to Reutlingen runs once an hour from early morning to late at night, as well as at weekends. The bus stop (X3) is directly in front of the airport, and the buses are easy to spot as they are painted in black and yellow squares. The bus ride to Reutlingen takes about 45 minutes and costs around €7.20. Get off the bus in Reutlingen at “Stadtmitte” and change to bus line 4 or 11 to travel to the campus (make sure you get on the bus heading in the direction “Hohbuch”). To get to campus get off the bus at the stop “Hochschulen”, for the dorms get out at “Pestalozzistrasse”.
